BIOGRAPHY

Stellario Di Blasi was born in Messina in 1982.

 

His work range from experimental practices of visual languages, choreography and education as freelance artist and high school teacher of the Artistic High School of Florence.

 

After graduating in 2001 from the State Institute of Art in Messina, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Carrara at the chair of the master Omar Galliani, with whom he graduated in Painting (Old Order) in 2006.

 

In 2010 obtained the Graduation in Visual and Performing Arts in the Painting School of the sicilian master Filadelfo Tinnirello and he completes his cultural background with training masters, achieving at the Academy of Fine Arts in Reggio Calabria a further Diploma with Enabling teaching value, Cobaslid, for the Pictorial Discipline in the High School.

He studied modern-jazz under with Giulia Migneco and afterwards contemporary dance with many teachers and choreographers in the Dance Production Center  - Scenario Pubblico Performing Arts as intern of the Compagnia Zappalà Danza in 2013 and in 2015 gave dancing lessons  for the Modem Atelier. In these years of study he collaborates with Roberto Zappalà, Giovanni Scarcella, Loris Petrillo, Compagnia Petranura Danza, Giulia Migneco and for Contenedores de Arte, Actual 2014 and Festivalfever.

He subsequently expanded his choreutic experience at the Hennuy Jurries Fondation (HJS) in Amsterdam and he continues assiduously updating through workshops conducted by renowned artists: La Veronal, Peeping Tom, Tanztheater Pina Bausch led by Damiano Ottavio Bigi for the realisation of the movie Borobudur directed by Arnold Pasquier, Sasha Waltz, Ultima Vez, Micha Van Hoeche, Michele Abbondanza, Roberto Castello, Enzo Cosimi, Gabriella Maiorino, Giovanni Di Cicco.

 

From 2013 to 2016 he was a dancer of the Compagnia Giovanna Velardi and he works in her performances and for many important institutions like Massimo Theater , Politeama Theater, Montevergini Theater, Cantieri Culturali alla Zisa and Conservatory of Music in Palermo.

As a performer he collaborated in 2017 with Olivier Dubois in Les memoires d’un seigneur and in 2019/20 with Ricci/Forte in Hic Sunt Leones - RAI3 TV program consisting of 5 performative episodes - directed by Stefano Ricci.

As choreographer takes parts to different creative residencies : Casa Luft, Claps Circuito Lombardia Arti Pluridisciplinari, Sosta Palmizi, CSC Centro per la Scena Contemporanea of Bassano del Grappa, Kilowatt Festival of Sansepolcro, Scenario Pubblico Performing Arts of Catania and Scenario Farm – Farm Cultural Park of Favara, ACS Abruzzo Circuito Spettacolo of Teramo, Teatro Vincenzo Bellini and Teatro Stabile Mercadante of  Napoli winning the residency announcecement – Progetto CUNAE.

 

In 2015 La medesima ossessione | il corpo, his first performance, is finalist in Rome for Equilibrio Prize by the artistic direction of Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and, in the same year, the performance is selected  by Anticorpi Xl 2015 - Vetrina della Giovane Danza D’Autore.

In 2016 he creates Cariddi | mari nun ci n’è cchiù. It will be finalist for DNA Appunti Coreografici – Romaeuropa Festival; for Cortoindanza Festival of Cagliari and for Shake 

Shake #4 – Ballet Du Nord – Olivier Dubois in Lille (2017). In 2018 the same creation will be presented to Vetrina della Giovane Danza D’Autore - Anticorpi Xl 2018.

With this project he also creates two video dance shorts, the first of which was selected in 2016 by DMoArtWorlds - Dancing around the world; the second, was selected in 2018 by La danza in 1 minuto - VII Edition and Too Short to Wait, winning a special Mention by Piemonte Movie gLocal Film Festival.

In 2018 he wins the residency with the project of Zancle | trilogia dello Stretto by Bando Casa Luft - Permutazioni 2018 of Zerogrammi, in collaboration of Piemonte dal Vivo Foundation , Palcoscenicodanza and the University of Turin.

In the same year he creates Caronte | ad astratti furori and he wins Danza Urbana Xl 2018 . Thanks to this work he will debut at Ravenna Festival on the occasion of Festival Giovani Artisti per Dante Festival  and will subsequently be present in various national Festivals.

 

In the same year he takes part to Uffizi Live 2018 announcement and he represents one of the artist selected among the 550  international proposals in order to perform with a new creation built ad hoc, A tutto tondo, inside of Uffizi Galleries of Florence in the room dedicated to Michelangelo and Raffaello.

In 2021 he won the first edition of the Biennale College Theater dedicated to Site-Specific Performance.

Chosen by the Directors of the Theater Sector Stefano Ricci and Gianni Forte (ricci/forte), among the more than 100 applications received from 18 countries around the world, he participates in the realization phase of his unpublished performance project - AB IMIS | iolagemmainnestai - produced by La Biennale di Venezia, presenting a performance designed and created for the open spaces of Venice, as part of the 49th International Theater Festival from 6 to 9 July.

As a high school teacher he busied on interdisciplinary projects collaborating in 2017 with the Teatro delle Albe - Non Scuola - of Ravenna. In 2018 he collaborated with the Egyptian Museum of Turin, composing together with the I.I. S. Romolo Zerboni’s students, a site specific - Iside | l’aria che tutto abbraccia - at the Lavanderia a Vapore in Collegno, with which it subsequently joined the Media Dance project.
